Music!

Postby Leo Fritz on Tue Dec 04, 2007 11:27 pm

Hello to all those beloved people who love Project Legacy [and Krystal]!

I would like to say since the PL movie launched, i've gotten a LOT better at guitar and singing. As you may have noticed, i still suck harcore at both, especially at the same time. Regardless, i think the best parts of PL all had some VERY nice music which complimented the scenes quite well. As a big music fan and a fan of PL [as well as voice actor], i want to at least attempt to organize something along the lines of a score of sorts. If you have any non-copyrighted music [i.e. original tracks, musings in front of a mic, etc.], feel free to contact me by this forum's message system and we'll talk some more thoroughly about what can be done.

Also, Duke, Boneless, and Karrde [and any other high-ranking officers within the PL staff]: Post a reply as to what music you need and want and some guidelines if possible.

My thoughts: Some characters i felt NEEDED thier own theme [Trigger and Sacrifice for instance], so i'm definitely looking into character themes. As i saw in the movie, very little actual fighting took place, so i took emphasis of background/battle music. The main focus seemed to be little "moments" everywhere that just needed something really...just to fill the void [or take the burn of my awful jokes  ].

Anyone make comments/suggestions/recordings regarding your thoughts.

i also have a youtube account so if you [for whatever reason] make a video response, slap it up and i'll watch and consider.

Whew! More great inspiration sitting across from this REALLY hot chick in the computer lab killing time before class! Moral of the story? Women are good for something [finally!] than cooking and cleaning. I hate kids in all forms so bearing children doesn't count in my book [i'm just emo like that ^_^]

And unfortunately, my amp is undergoing surgery at Bobby Bruno's Music currently, so i don't have squat yet, but as soon as it gets neutered..i mean fixed [isn't that the same thing!?]....i'l be rockin' out much to all your poor ears' dismay :geek:

Yea...Duke n boneless..the problem with my amp last time wasn't the cords or anything...when i dropped the amp, a lot of things apparently came loose or straight up just broke. I even got a new gold-plated garunteed-for-life never-comes-unplugged cord to determine whether it was the just old cords or my amp. Unfortunately it was the latter.

So yea...thoughts on Project Legacy Season 2: The [un]official soundtrack ne1?

And if anyone [particularly Dice] could tell my how to put up a sound clip or maybe i need to go through the admins idk. i'm not gonna lie, as white n nerdy and emo as i am, these @&#$ pHp forums have my brains fried.

Sleep bad and eat your dad.

Will be looking forward to these :P
Music files aren't the biggest things so they would be easy to transfer around and if you want other people to hear it you could upload it to youtube with a black screen for the video

Who needs Black Mesa to help? I did it myself!

*Listens to the praise from Leo*

:) Your welcome :P Just use the mp3 button when posting a post, and then put the URL to the song between the tags. By URL, I mean the URL DIRECTLY to the song so it starts playing using quick time or whatever you have.

Oh yes, just in case you didn't figure this out, it has to be a mp3 file :)

This is a song I uploaded to a site called PutFile. So, if you have a song and you want to put it on the forums, but it's not on a site, use PutFile.com to upload it and get the link from there.

Well if all that's original music [except the legend of zelda theme which i know is a cover], sounds GREAT! Unfortunately, trifecta of d00m happened to me, too...except only one thing went wrong and that's my amp...which means i can't really do much in the way of playing my songs they way they are meant to. AND it's xmastime so family's coming home, whioch means no time to myself to record PLUS i'm finally working 6 days/week so i'm making mass moo-lah, but again no time for little else. I'm really thinking of buying a 4-track ADAT tape recorder....

*sigh*

Being the next big thing is soooo frustrating.

[mp3]My Documents/ffvii good1plussome.wav[/mp3]

Well it doesn't seem like this is working [probably b/c it's a wav not an mp3] but hey...help! I have 3 or 4 new things recorded [done] and i'm using wondows sound recorder/movie maker to record [and put to youtube for the moviemaker]. and i can't seem to put them up at all.

I don't know how to:
Compress to mp3
record as mp3
post audio/video on this website
post a video to youtube [although i've attempted once] with black screen
do math
compress WMM [windows movie maker] to avi or mpeg or something useful
finish save WMM project to an actual video not just the project file
capture video [i was going to say screw it and record myself playing guitar]
and not have a good time.

Thanks in advance for all your help [looks at Dice and Duke].

well, the reason it's not working for you is two fold... first thing is that it's not a mp3 and second is you can't link it to YOUR computer... it has to be on a website... as for the second part, i'll have to talk to dice about that... as for the first part I think a change in tech is called for.

we haven't used windows sound recorder since before I knew you... so you need to get something better, I recommend audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ it's what we used to make all of project legacy. just get on aim and talk to me at some point and I'll walk you through recording... oh yeah, you'll need a dll download to make mp3s... which I can't seem to find... oh well, i'll keep looking.

as for uploading to our website... I'd certainly like to let you, but there are some people who might abuse our good will and post tons of unwanted material... but if there's a way we can restrict WHO can upload and then have a way for you to use that for the Mp3 thing I will definitely try to get that for you

Well then. Sounds like a job for....SUPER DICE-A-NATOR [cue epic battle fanfare]

Well i kinda figured you'd use the PM function for that.

O well we'll get that sorted out.

Thanks for the audacity tho...good times

Glad to hear you like it. The recording was basically just my video game voicechat former cellphone headset mic placed QUITE far away from the amp [which in and of itself is very poor quality :-/].

My REAL amp has had a transformer [no, NOT the destuct-o-bot-con-former-isms, Karrde!] replaced and the jack is stll funky but that's being worked on by my repair man o' electronic gear, JP.

Yes, I was aware of the quality (or lack of it) of the audio tracks and I honestly did my very best to clean them up as much as I could. Alas, not everyone in the world has a quality set up like me... and by quality I of course mean a $20 mic from best buy on a $10 stand with a $1 blue foam piece to keep it spit free... WOO!! I"m FANCY!

Well THAT mic that i used died so now i have a choice between a staticy crummy mic or one that only works when it REALLY REALLY wants to :-( Plus, both are part of headset/mic sets that are really used for online PC gaming or use with Ventrilo, Teamspeak, etc. Well i lied...the good one that's tempermental is actually an old cellphone headset.

I will post more soon [or send more to Duke] .

Can anyone tell me what's the name/composer of the halo 2 rock theme? I really want to learn how to play it....

There's a youtube video that uses it..do a search for "lots of fps" and it should be the first one that pops up; by Vasf. It features a lot of EU MMOs and FPS, including Gunz, Cabal, SilkRoad, Pang Pang, and more.

I don't know if you'll be able to find it that easily. It's one of those compositions that you usually buy.
